About Hanslope Cricket Club
Brief History:
Although Hanslope CC was not officially formed until
after the 2nd World War, organised cricket in the village was played
intermittently throughout much of the last century. In the early days, teams
from the Hanslope, including a team representing The Watts Arms, played cricket
at various locations within the village, including sites in Tathall End,
Hanslope Park and Long Street.
After the War, Hanslope Cricket Club (HCC) was
officially formed and played it’s first competitive fixture in the spring of
1946. The team was captained by Arthur Snaith and played home games in a field
behind the Watts Arms Public House.
Since 1960, HCC has been at it’s present home - The Recreation Ground, Castlethorpe Road. Today, some fifty years after it was formed, HCC is still going strong, playing competitive Saturday cricket in the 2nd Division of the South Northants League and friendly Sunday fixtures against local sides.
