Ben "Warrior/Crock" Ritchie
R/H Bat – Extremely Slow Bowler.
An HCC stalwart, "Big" Ben has made some vital contributions with the bat over the years and last season weighed in with some impressive Sunday scores. As you would expect from a Ritchie, Ben's batting is full of elegant stroke play and gritty defensive shots. Still to get his maiden fifty, Ben came very close last season when on 46 not out he decided to dance down the wicket to a slower delivery – 30 seconds latter the pavilion door felt the full force of Ben's bat, pads, gloves, cap and cricket boots.
His unbelievably slow bowling, has baffled countless batsman over the years, with opponents bemused as to which boundary they should be smashing the ball over. Despite the advice of several other HCC players (and cricketing experts), Ben has not given up bowling and last season finished top of the (also bowled) averages. Renowned for his slight figure, duck arse and boyish looks, Ben uses his massive chap to good effect in the field – where very little gets under him.
Best Moment – 46 against Abington CC
Funniest Moment – The crock going for a swim in Bournemouth.
