Trevor McLean
L/H Bat R/A Bowler
Trevor McLeanTrevor was an ever-present with the club through the late 60s, 70s and 80s. At the club level Trev was the epitome of the phrase 'stock bowler'. When the club competed in the now defunct Milton Keynes league there was no limit on the number of overs for each bowler. Consequently, in a 44 overs innings, two bowlers could suffice. Trevor was always good for anything from 15 to the maximum 22 overs, and it was rarely he took a pasting. Coming down the hill at the rec, his footsteps uerringly fell in the same place, over after over. If 'Time Team' ever come to Hanslope Tony Robinson and crew will probably be able to excavate Trev's paces in the same way they do Roman post holes. Like many top players, Trev batted left handed and bowled right. On a good day his batting was lethal. The back foot would drop away slightly towards square leg and a perfectly good length ball would be slapped back over the bowler's head. However that technique was also a weakness, and an off stump yorker could be curtains as Trev stepped back towards the umpire. Trev was a genuine all-rounder: bowling, batting, emergency wicket keeper and sometime captain. A true legend, and one whose length of service could only be equalled by Bob Baird
